“What does it mean,
To forgive?”
I ask myself,
While sitting
In a building
Doing things,
Religious things,
That I don’t
Believe in…
Anymore.

If I live
A life that is
Focused on
The pain that
Others have
Caused me,
I will surrender
Most of what
Is beautiful
And meaningful
And wild.

And the God
That I am wanting
To know,
To believe in,
And to trust in,
Forgives me.

So why not?
Why can I not
Extend the same
Grace,
And understanding,
And hopeful
Compassion
To others
In my life?
