My world used to be black
And white.
Right
And wrong.
Good
And bad.
An innocence not created,
But simply there.
And when the pain came,
The confusion created a gray,
A muddle of what appeared
To be
Emptiness.
And yet,
When I pulled the curtain of emptiness aside,
I saw light,
A life in full color.
Reflecting the beauty of the process,
The wholeness of healing,
The dichotomy of discovery,
Of learning that life is full of
Currents,
Pathways,
Decisions,
Flowing newness,
More than simply just black and white.
Full of hues,
And vibrancy,
And full color.
The colors mix together,
Creating a palette of growth.
And while I can’t ever go back to the world,
Of black and white.
I can revel in the beauty of a life truly
Being lived.
